Am I happy enough?

In today's world, it seems like everyone's on a never-ending quest for happiness. I mean, seriously, there was this study that found people value happiness above everything else in life. It's like a universal craving – we all just want to be happy or, at the very least, be seen as happy. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle had some interesting insights about happiness. He said there are basically two types of happiness: the quick, pleasure-packed kind and the long-term, meaningful kind.
So, let's break it down. The first type is all about instant gratification – doing what makes you feel good, practicing self-care, and living for the moment. It's like that delicious piece of cake you indulge in. Sweet, satisfying, but it disappears pretty quickly, right?
The second type of happiness, on the other hand, is about the long game. It's tied to actions that give your life a sense of purpose, value, and meaning. Think of it as the equivalent of planting a tree. It takes time, care, and effort, but the rewards last way longer.
Now, it's all about finding a balance between these two. Sometimes, we get caught up in seeking quick fixes for happiness – like that next Netflix binge or buying something fancy. But guess what? That kind of happiness usually fades away faster than a Snapchat message.
Instead, what you really want to do is focus on finding meaning and purpose in your life. Feeling like you're living the life you actually want, going with the flow, and being open to life's curveballs – that's where the good stuff lies. So, what is happiness, really? According to Kendra Cherry, it's a lot of things:

-It's feeling like you're living the life you wanted.
-It's about going with the flow.
-It's being open to new ideas and experiences.
-It's finding satisfaction in your life.
-It's enjoying positive, healthy relationships with people.
-It's feeling like you're accomplishing your goals.
-It's having a positive outlook, even when life throws lemons at you.
And if you can tick a few of these boxes, then hey, you're on the happiness train! But hold on, it's not just about listing these qualities. It's about having more positive experiences than negative ones. That's what truly makes you a happy camper.
Now, keep in mind that this blog is all about exploring different shades of happiness and how to achieve it. It doesn't delve into the complexities of mental health issues like anxiety or depression. But, hey, even if we're happier more often than we're not, we're headed in the right direction. That's when we can start tuning into ourselves, learning what our bodies and minds need to become the best possible version of us.

So, remember, don't worry, be happy. 😊
